You can take a girl out of Ecuador, but you can't take Ecuador out of the girl! An experience that will live with me forever. The most challenging yet best 10 weeks of my life, without a doubt.

Your Itinerary

What you'll do and where you'll go, from the day you arrive until you hop on a plane back home.
  • Day 1 Quito
Ecuador’s historic capital city, where you’ll be staying right in the centre of a UNESCO world heritage site. Here you will acclimatise, explore and start your daily Spanish lessons.
  • Day 4 Northern Andes, Agato
You’ll travel across the snow-capped Andes to Otavalo to join the rural Agato community. Here, you will live and work amongst the community; teaching, helping in the day care centre and improving village infrastructure.
  • Day 21 Ruta de Los Volcanes
A week of adrenaline, with an expedition along the Ruta de los Volcanes, involving kayaking on the Quilotoa Crater Lake, steaming thermal baths and white-water rafting.
  • Day 28 Lowland Jungle - Tsachila Tribe
Next, it's south to the steamy jungle to meet the country’s last remaining indigenous Tsachila tribes, who still practice ancient rituals. Here, you’ll help with everyday chores, from cooking, to fishing and helping develop their botanical Gardens.
  • Day 42 Galapagos Islands
You'll stay on San Cristobal, one of the archipelago’s remote islands, where you’ll introduce fresh water to the communities and help the kids with special needs to ride horses. Perfect place for scuba diving and snorkelling.
  • Day 63 Amazon Rainforest
Finally, you’ll get the chance to visit the mighty Amazon rainforest, where the Gaia Amazon Center will provide a program of activities for you to learn about the Amazon and its cultures, including a canoe river tour, hiking in the primary rainforest, fishing, tubing and a trip to the butterfly farm.
  • Day 70 Quito
It's back to where you started to fly home or carry on travelling through South America.
